WHAT’s UP With PAMBA??
The club has decided to buy another Billy Goat to keep up with our growing responsibilities.
Why join PAMBA ?
If you’re already a member who is renewing for another year, thank you for your support! If you’re not currently a member, please consider the following.
So you’re thinking about joining PAMBA and asking yourself, “Of all the different groups asking for my money, why should I support PAMBA? ” Or maybe, “What’s in it for me? ” There’s a number of valid answers to both questions but the simplest one is TRAILS. The club’s primary mission is to establish relationships with land managers so that we can maintain, improve, and add new multi-use trails for everyone to enjoy. Even though trails are designed with mountain biking in mind, all trail users (hikers, runners, geocachers, orienteers) benefit from club’s efforts. Without PAMBA, trailsystems such as Black Partridge Park, Wildlife Prairie Park, and Kinsey wouldn’t exist at all. It’s also entirely possible that mountain bike access to many of the popular parks like Farmdale and Jubilee could be lost. Even worse, established trails can simply disappear due to lack of maintenance, which has been the case at Dirksen, Indy, and Jubilee. Fortunately, through the dedication and tireless effort of club leaders and volunteers, we have a network of 60 miles of singletrack and trusted relationships with both national and local land managers including Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Army Corp of Engineers, Metamora Park District, Pekin Park District, Wildlife Prairie Park, and Peoria Park District.
Membership dues help fund the purchase, operation, and repair of hand tools, power equipment, and fuel used during the 3000+ annual hours of volunteer labor for trail building and maintenance. That’s an average of more than 8 hours/day, 7 days a week, 365 days/year! PAMBA has invested over $10,000 in power equipment (chainsaws, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters, backpack blowers) and more than $5000 for handtools (pulaskis, rogue hoes, mcleod rakes, shovels, dirt tampers, etc). These funds also help to purchase materials used for bridges, trail features, and signage for parks.
If all of that’s not enough to convince you why you need to be a member of PAMBA, here’s a few more reasons:
Gain access to exclusive member only discounts
10% off parts and service at local bike shops
Social activities! Membership dues also support group rides and annual events like the summer family/kids ride series, Halloween night ride, Turkey Burn, Winter North 40, and more!
Stay connected. We have multiple methods of communication for keep you up to date on the latest MTB related activities.
