log skidding winch

I don't think PAMBA has one of these yet?

I really think it would be useful.

I am personally contemplating buying one. they are rather pricey.
particularly the capstan winch can easily haul a log several hundred feed in a single pull. which would easily drag telephone poles down and across the creeks.

I'd rent it cheap. :)

what say you, ye who build stuff?

Maybe He-Man can make that work...but how does a mere mortal stop that thing from dragging them rather abruptly toward an unmoving tree, rather than dragging the tree toward them? Did Stihl defeat Newton's first law of motion with some kind of top secret anti-inertia device? Im surprised the guberment hasn't jumped on this!

Don't know about any other mere mortal but I'd probably wrap that wire rope at the back of the Stihl around something other than myself. ;)

hahaha! At first glance I thought that was the winch cable, and a person was meant to hold the device like a regular chainsaw! I see now that cable is used to anchor it to something. Hmmm....maybe I could mount one of these to my bike to pull me up the hills!

I'd pull all of the logs off the course and then put them back after the Novice race!
